Recently described as the ‘First Man of Sports’ by SportzPower, India’s leading sports business publication, Ravi Krishnan has had a career in Sports, Media & Entertainment spanning over two decades.
Ravi has helped create, commercialise, execute, and establish some of Asia’s and India’s long-lasting properties including the Indian Premier League, India’s first ever Fashion Week, its only ATP tournament and a global wellness mass participation platform.
Ravi moved to India, from Australia, in 1995, to set up IMG and went on to serve as Managing Director for South Asia. During his time there, he created the India-Pakistan Sahara Cup, the Aircel Chennai Open (today called the Tata Open Maharashtra), the Royal Challenge Indian Open Golf Tournament, Avantha Masters and Philips National Football League among many other properties. Under Ravi’s leadership, IMG also secured long term relationships with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to develop both sports in India.
In 2012, he co-founded Stepathlon, a digital and on-ground mass participation wellness platform aimed at getting people moving, using a “sports marketing approach to wellness”. With nearly 400,000 participants over six years, it is one of India’s largest corporate engagement programs. Stepathlon has positively impacted participants across 55 countries and 1000-plus locations globally.
In 2016, Stepathlon partnered with Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his management company, to create Stepathlon Kids aimed at Indian children between the ages of 8 to 12. The program will be the first of its kind ‘movement’ to get kids healthier, happier and more productive.
Ravi is also Chairman of KWANAbler, focused on partnering global stakeholders looking to create long term value for both sides in the Indian market. In this venture, he has partnered with KWAN, India’s premier marketplace for entertainment and pop culture.
